Google mRSS this Fall
This is Scot Manaher host of Niche Website Strategy.com I had this awesome idea I wanted to share which means new features to my website in store for you all. The idea is all about getting lots information to you the readers and listeners that you can use now. This will really keep you ontop of your game. Plus a little ‘off the cuff stuff’ to keep you interested.
But wanted to share what Google announced. A video has surfaced on the net that this fall Google plans to start indexing videos through feeds. This is awesome. Not sure if this will come through but here is a clip of Matt Cutts explaining mRSS…
This is kinda funny but I will try and keep this on topic but if you go to Google homepage and look at the top it shows all these links you know to video, blogs and ect.. I learned this pretty early that you can get listed pretty quickly here. My brother he is dabbling in seo and I showed him the links and he said “ohh I didn’t know that was there.” It shows you how people when viewing content can have blinders on. It seems like they don’t like change and when that change is incorporated the subconsciously just pay it no attention. Which is funny if you think about it? It’s kind of like my ex she was the total opposite she loved change. She always wanted to move around the furniture I mean not just once a month but every week and you know that did not last long. So it’s funny you have two people on the opposite side of the spectrum.
So getting back on track, don’t put your blinders on about Google using mrss to list all the videos on your website. This can really payoff and get you some long overdue exposure. You can submit your sitemap at Webmaster Tools Dashboard.
Yoast came out with a guide..If you don’t know who yoast is head over to yoast.com and tell him Scot Manaher sent you but this guide deals directly with Video SEO. Looks like, he has two articles showing us how to get those video media feeds setup.
Wrapping this up. I also wanted to share a forum I just started getting active in it is called digital point forums which is a great resource if your involved in SEO. They have an enormous list of forums that caters to webmasters. Plus some very useful tools and a marketplace for any domains you want to sell. But wanted to share a post there that I got a laugh out of…a poll came up in general discussion about shaving..I respond everyday now since I started doing podcasting and a young lady responded “she doesn’t have to shave” I thought it was cute but just shows you how personable the community is over there. I highly recommended Digital Point Forum.
If you really want to get your seo built up for your website then start caring. What I mean by that is a lot of these addon developers have a great following. You can add comments to their articles saying how much you enjoy using their addons. The thing is these developers are not getting paid for their addons, these are free addons. So it really matters when you give constructive feedback about the addons you use. Plus it ties you directly into the industry you’re striving to succeed at.
Well thanks alot for listening about mrss . With that this is Scot Manaher signing off.
