Google is a great source of information but sometimes the advice given does not always make sense.  Back in 2008 Google came out with a video tutorial Google for Webmasters Tutorial: Discoverability

The first few things they covered was to jump start your indexing of your website into Google search engine was to use Google url submit tool.

I do not recommend using this tool for the only reason thousands of webmasters daily submit new websites to this tool..this inevitably creates a waiting line of url’s to be indexed. Reports have shown that sometimes it can take a few weeks to a few months for your website to be indexed this way in SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages).

The key here is to get your website indexed quickly. The only thing that is needed is to install Google Analytics onto your website. Our website was indexed within only a few days after installing analytics on our front page.

So if you want to get quickly discovered in Google just install Google Analytics on your website and you will be index within a few days. It is simple as that.
