Welcome my name is Scot Manaher and this video is powered by Niche Website Strategy.

Today I am getting some quick tips out there to really prepare you, for things to come.  I wanted to talk about work environments, especially keeping a clean work environment.

Keeping clean windows desktop will save you time. What happens when you have a cluttered desktop…is that you lose concentration at the task at hand. Once you start letting your mind wander, your eyes find something more appealing. It could be as innocent as a YouTube video that you have to watch again, we as humans are programmed to procrastinate and it is up to you to stray from it.

If you’re using windows xp you have a program called desktop clean up wizard which will get the job done. On the Vista platform they since discontinued that program so it needs to be done manually.

Quick and easy how to clean up your desktop icons safely…

  • Open your documents folder first, navigate to the start panel then left click documents.
  • Right click anywhere in the opened window and select new and then click create a folder. Name the folder Unused Icons
  • While the folder is open navigate back to your desktop select each icon by holding ctrl and then left clicking each icon you want to move.
  • Once icons are selected hold down with your left mouse button and drag the icons into the new folder.

So you’re saying to yourself why not just delete them? You could delete them but your run the possibility of the program not working properly , it all depends if it has the symbol arrow that identifies it as a shortcut. Some programs actually install the executable file directly to your desktop. So the safe bet is to simply store them for later use.

Thanks for tuning in. Check back tomorrow for more tips provided by Niche Website Strategy.com
