Top five SEO mistakes
Number one SEO mistake on the list is no Meta Tags. Meta tags tell search engine bots what your website and content is about. If it is not their then do not expect to get much in return. I cannot begin tell you how many websites I have critiqued and had to list Meta tags as a ‘to do’.
Number two SEO mistake webmaster’s make is changing website structure and not following through and fixing broken links. Say for instance you think a month old article, would do better under a different category. If you don’t manually select the default option which is set to uncategorized in the first place then any links already formed from referrers and search engine result page’s will return a 404, page not found error. Tracking down these errors is a must to mitigate any negative effects it could play on your page rank and page listing within search engines.
Number three SEO mistake on the list is improper tagging and keyword match up. For example you write an article about SEO blunders and use an analogy of a dog within the post to compare it to this or that. Just because you used the word dog within the article you tag and keyword for dog. But the article has nothing to do with dogs. So keeping on track and understanding the main topic of the article is a must. If the keyword or tag is not within the article or within it once then do not tag or keyword it under those words.
Number four SEO mistake is balancing content, with links, with tags and with keywords. Too much of one thing can hurt a website. Well all accept content, I should say quality content. Too much quality content can never hurt you unless you match it up with improper tagging and keyword use. But if the content is absolute gibberish then it can hurt you. So matching up unique content, with proper tags and keywords and free flowing link building is a must. A balance of all of them will help you rise in search engine result pages.
Number five SEO mistake is staying on track and keeping a consistent posting schedule. When I first started blogging I will be honest it was tough, even now at times I have to work on it. Posting three articles a week can be a daunting task. So keeping it simple is a must. If you plan to post Monday, Wednesday and Friday then you can setup email reminders with most calendars to remind you with “remember the Monday, Wednesday and Friday posting schedule.”
With that this is Scot Manaher signing off. See you on Monday! To keep you interested in ahead of the competitors check out my previous article about making Google asynchronous tracking work for you. Known benefits of the newest java script based tracking snippet.
